2013 Baseball Opening Day; Rockies at Brewers-Daily Sport Update

It's opening day for Major League Baseball and the Colorado Rockies start the 2013 season off at Milwaukee. The Rockies with a new manager this year in Walt Weiss and the team trying to rebound from their season ever finishing 64-98, which is a franchise worse and ended up 30 games out of first place in the NL West Division behind World Series Champion San Francisco. Former Casper player Jhoulys Chacin will be the Colorado starting pitcher. This will mark Todd Helton's 16th straight opening day start and could be his last. He'll be 40 years old in August and is in his final year of his contract. Last year Helton hit .238 in 69 games, both career lows.

In the Men's NCAA Basketball Tournament, the Final Four is set as Louisville and Michigan will join Wichita State and Syracuse. Louisville advanced as they walloped Duke in the Midwest Regional final 85-63 as Russ Smith had 23 points for the Cardinals. Louisville managed this despite one of their players Kevin Ware suffering a gruesome broken leg in the first half. Louisville will match up with Syracuse in one national semifinal in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta Saturday evening. Michigan won the South Regional title drubbing Florida 79-59. Nik Stauskas led the Wolverines with 22 points. Michigan will face Wichita State in the other seminfinal. The winners will play for the national title next Monday April 8th.

The Wyoming Cavalry indoor football team lost their 4th in a row as they were beaten at the Casper Events Center by the Colorado Ice 54-36 on Friday night. The Cavs are 0-4 and will host Tri-Cities Friday night at the Events Center.
