The Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team Black says the Badger Creek Fire has grown to 14,960 acres, with no containment.

A public meeting has been scheduled for Saturday, June 16 at 2 p.m., where fire officials will provide updates about the ongoing suppression efforts and respond to questions and concerns from the audience. The meeting will be held at the Albany County Fairgrounds.

Thursday, crews and dozers continued to make progress in building fire lines on the west and south edge of the fire. On the northern edge along Hwy 230, crews built fire line along the road.

During the night, firefighters took advantage of cooler temperatures and lighter winds to secure the fire line. Helicopters and specialized aircraft called Super Scoopers were used to drop water on the fire to help with fire suppression efforts.

The Super Scoopers will be using Lake Hattie to fill their tanks - because of this Lake Hattie is closed to boats until further notice. Anglers can continue fishing from the shore. When the lake is open to boats again, recreationists will be notified via the Badger Creek Fire Facebook page.

For Friday, crews will be focused on strengthening and building the fire line to the south, west and north portions of the fire. On the east side of the fire, the fire intensity is expected to decrease as it moves from dense timber to grass and sage. Crews are continuing to protect structures.

At this time three structures have been confirmed damaged- one home and two outbuildings.

An emergency closure is in place on the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, Laramie ranger District to ensure the protection of the pubic and fire personnel during operations for the Badger Creek Fire. It will remain in place until rescinded.

Wyoming Highway 230 remains closed from Woods Landing to the Colorado state line. WYO 10 is closed between Woods Landing and the Colorado state line.

Evacuation orders remain in place for the communities of Foxpark, Mountain Home, Wold Tract, Wyocolo, Gramm, Beehive, Miller Lake, and the areas along Highway 10 from Woods Landing south to the Colorado state line. This includes Woods Landing, New Jelm, and Jelm. The community of Foxborough remains under a pre-evacuation order.

Updates can be found on InciWeb and the Forest Service Twitter.
