DETROIT (AP)— They say everything is bigger in Texas, so Prince Fielder would appear to be a great fit for the Texas Rangers. In a blockbuster trade, the Rangers are acquiring the portly first baseman from Detroit in exchange for second baseman Ian Kinsler.

Fielder signed a $214 million, nine-year contract with the Tigers before the 2012 season that includes a limited no-trade provision. But the big first baseman was set to approve the deal. With Fielder gone, Detroit may shift Miguel Cabrera to first base.

Kinsler just finished the first season of a $75 million, five-year contract.

Fielder hit .279 with 25 homers this year, his lowest home run total over a full season. Kinsler batted .277 with 13 homers. He was limited to 136 games because of injuries to his ribs and right side.

The Rangers are also receiving what Texas calls "cash considerations" from the Tigers. A source tells the AP that amounts to $30 million.

NEW YORK (AP) — Alex Rodriguez walked out of his grievance hearing after arbitrator Fredric Horowitz refused to order baseball Commissioner Bud Selig (SEE'-lig) to testify. Horowitz was in the midst of presiding over the 11th day of hearings on the grievance filed by the players' association to overturn the suspension given to Rodriguez by Major League Baseball for alleged violations of the sport's drug agreement and labor contract.

A person familiar with the session said that after Horowitz made his ruling, Rodriguez slammed a table, uttered a profanity at MLB Chief Operating Officer Rob Manfred and left. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because what takes place at the hearing is supposed to be confidential.

In a statement Rodriguez said he was disgusted with what he called, "this abusive process, designed to ensure that the player fails." He added, "The absurdity and injustice just became too much. I walked out and will not participate any further in this farce."

Later, appearing on WFAN radio, Rodriguez said, "I'm done. I don't have a chance." He added, "My position doesn't change. I didn't do it."
