The Denver Broncos opened up the 2011 season with a loss to the Oakland Raiders 23-20. Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski tied an NFL record with a 63-yard field goal in the second quarter.

That mark is shared with Denver's Jason Elam in 1978 and Tom Dempsey of New Orleans in 1970. The Raiders also got an effective effort out of running back Darren McFadden who rushed for 150 yards on 22 carries. Denver trailed 23-13  before Kyle Orton directed a fourth quarter drive to get the Broncos within a field goal. The Broncos will host Cincinnati on Sunday. Also on Monday night football, New England beat Miami 38-24 as quarterback Tom Brady threw for four touchdowns, plus threw for a franschise and Monday Night Football record 517 yards.

The Wyoming Cowboys are back at practice after a convincing 45-10 win over Texas State on Saturday. They prepare for their first road trip this Saturday to Bowling Green (2-0). The Pokes (2-0) defense turned in an outstanding performance Saturday, holding the Bobcats to just 189 yards in total offense. To get ready for a 10am kickoff Saturday, the Cowboys will be holding practices on Thursday and Friday at 6am.

Junior College Volleyball tonight as Casper College will have their home opener when they host Western Nebraska at 7pm at Erickson Gym.

The Prep Game Of The Week Friday night will have top-ranked Natrona (3-0) at Rock Springs (1-2). Kickoff is at 7:00 with the pregame show at 6:45pm on AM 1400 ESPN. Kelly Walsh (0-3) is hosting Gillette (3-0)  at Harry Geldien Stadium at 7:00pm Friday.
