Casper College won their first round match in the Region-IX North Tournament in Powell on Wednesday. The T-Birds beat Eastern Wyoming of Torrington 3 games to none. So the Birds advance to the winners bracket and will take on Northwest College of Powell at noon today. The other first round match saw LCCC of Cheyenne defeat Sheridan College 3 games to 2. LCCC will play Western Wyoming of Rock Springs this afternoon. Sheridan and EWC will play in a loser-out match today. The tournament runs through Saturday with the winner advancing to the national tournament in West Plains, Missouri.

In men's junior college basketball, Casper College tips off the season tonight at home when they host Eastern Wyoming of Torrington. The T-Birds are ranked 10th in the nation in the preseason poll. Casper will be led by returners Remi Debo and the Lee brothers, Demetrius and Dominique, plus alot of new faces. Tonight's game is at 7:30pm from Erickson Gym and the start of the Tip-Off Classic at Erickson Gym on AM 1400 ESPN with Marcus Hayden and Chris Crossen.

The Wyoming Cowboy men's basketball team with their first exhibition game and beating Fort Lewis College 82-61 on Wednesday night. The game was played at Wyoming Indian High School in Ethete. Larry Nance Jr. led the Pokes with 21 points, as 5 Cowboys were in double figures. Wyoming shot 51% from the field and Fort Lewis 48%. UW with another exhibition game this Saturday night at the AA in Laramie when they host Wooster.

High school football playoffs enter the semifinal round on Friday. Top ranked Natrona plays host to 4th ranked Cheyenne East in one 4A match up. The Mustangs (10-0) defeated Rock Springs in the opening round last Friday night 54-7. The Thunderbirds (7-3) took care of cross-town rival Central 45-6. NC beat East in the regular season game on Sept. 28th 34-2 in Casper. The other semifinal game has 2nd ranked Gillette hosting 3rd ranked Sheridan. The Camels (9-1) eliminated Evanston 42-16, and the Broncs (8-2) ended Kelly Walsh's season 35-14 last Friday night.

In 6-Man football semifinals on Friday afternoon, Midwest is at Dubois. The Oilers defeated Kaycee in the opening round 68-26 last Friday night. Midwest comes in at 6-2 and Dubois is the only unbeaten left at 8-0. They beat H.E.M last Friday afternoon 89-19. Kickoff is at 2:00pm.
