The Casper Ghosts completed the sweep of the Idaho Chukars Monday night with an 11-6 win, before a record Monday night crowd. The Ghosts have lost just once here in the second half of the season.

1,943 were in attendance Monday night(biggest crowd for a Monday night game in team history) for a dog promotion night. Fans were invited to bring their dogs to the game. And it turned out to be a howling success. Casper which had the worst record in the first half in the Pioneer League, now have the best record thus far here in the second half of the season at 8-1. The Ghosts lead Orem by one game in the South Division. Ogden who won the first half of the division is sitting with a 1-8 record. The Ghosts return to Idaho Falls for a three game series starting tonight at 7:15pm on AM 1400 ESPN. Casper will then head to Orem for two games Friday and Saturday nights before taking their only Sunday off during the season and then opening up a seven game homestand on Monday Aug. 15th against Great Falls who by the way leads the North Division with a 7-2 record.

High School Football practices got underway for the 4A schools in Wyoming on Monday. In Casper, the defending state champion Natrona Mustangs under veteran coach Steve Harshman welecomed some 150 players to camp. The Mustangs open the season on Friday August 26th at home with Cheyenne South who comes into the 4A ranks this year. The Kelly Walsh Trojans had around 100 players at their first practice  under new coach Jon Vance. The Trojans will play their first game at home the 26th when they take on Cheyenne East. That will be our game of the week and season opener on AM 1400 ESPN.

Carlos Gonzalez's two-run homer, broke an eighth-inning tie and sent the Colorado Rockies to a 10-7 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night that featured a long rain delay and seven homers in all including four by the Rockies. Seth Smith hit a pair of two-run homers, and Todd Helton also homered for the Rockies. Matt Belisle (6-4) pitched out of a threat in the seventh and Huston Street worked the ninth for his 29th save in 32 chances.
