One of Casper's popular pathways will be closing for a makeover. According to the City of Casper, starting Thursday, August 23rd, crews will begin work on a 3,000 foot section of the pedestrian pathway that runs from Crossroads Park east.

Officials say the original eight foot wide asphalt pathway is in poor condition, and it will be replaced with a wider, ten foot wide pathway made of concrete that will meet current standards for maintenance and plowing. Here's more from a City of Casper release:

"For user safety the pathway will be closed to through travel during the project. Users traveling west along the trail are encouraged to detour through North Casper to the “F” Street pathway connection or use the Crossroads Park trailhead located near Adventure Playground. Users wanting to utilize the trail in the natural area west of the North Casper Athletics complex will need to turn around at the closure. The project is expected to be completed by mid-September 2018."

The $156,476 project is funded with Optional One Cent Sales Tax funds allocated to the Platte River Trails, and the contract was awarded to Knife River. Anyone with questions or wanting more information can contact the parks office at (307) 235-8283.
