We’ve heard Josh Allen and John Elway’s styles of play compared in general. We’ve heard that since Josh took over as quarterback of the Pokes. Allen’s completion percentage looks questionable, but old #7’s numbers from his rookie year, 1983, were worse, short of 48 percent. That was in the NFL and Josh isn’t there just yet. So let’s look at both college careers side by side from their last two seasons, at Wyoming and Stanford.

Completion %  ……………………….John Elway  61.6 …………………Josh Allen 56.3

Passer rating …………………………John  138.2 ……………………….Josh  136.3

Yard Passing …………………………John  5,916 ……………..………...Josh  5,015

Running .......................…………John 133 att -296 yrds ……..…..Josh  234 att 737 yrds

Size ………………………………….John  6’3” 215 lbs …………….….Josh 6’5” 240 lbs

Arm strength ...For John, there are no combine records but we saw his bazooka. …For Josh in the 2018 combine, 66 yard bombs were on a dime, as if he was “showing off.”

Intangibles (Competitive?)  HA! Is there any questioning either's competitive nature? When John was young, the world may have taken him as cocky for not wanting to play for the Colts, or play baseball, but we found out his mental toughness. Josh could have gotten frustrated often during his last year, but I think I only saw that once and even then, he still did not lose his poise.

John 1983 Draft #1, traded to Broncos w/#4 pick…..Josh 2018 expected Top 5, and the Broncos have pick #5 ... Wait, what's this? "Josh Allen to the Denver Broncos picking up steam."
