The Wyoming Cowboys improved to 7-0 with a 68-40 road win over UC Santa Barbara Wednesday night. The Pokes were led in scoring by Luke Martinez with 17 points and 12 each from Derrious Gilmore and Larry Nance Jr. UW also held UCSB to 28 percent shooting from the field. UC Santa Barbara and former Gillette standout Taran Brown was held in check with just 9 points all in the second half. Brown who averages 15 points also fouled out. The Cowboys are back home Saturday night when they face 19th ranked Colorado at the AA on AM 1030 KTWO.

The Wyoming Cowgirls lost their first game of the season to Colorado (5-0) 68-59 in Boulder  Wednesday night. The Cowgirls shot just 35 percent from the field and had 18 turnovers. UW was led in scoring by Ashley Sickles with 12 points  and Kayla Woodward (Sheridan) with 10. The Cowgirls(4-1) will host Eastern Michigan Saturday afternoon at the AA in Laramie.

The high school basketball season tips off today. The Casper schools will be playing in the McDonalds Classic in Cheyenne. Kelly Walsh boys play Laramie today at 3:30pm. The Kelly Walsh girls play Cheyenne East at 6:30pm. The Natrona girls will open with Cheyenne Central at 6:30 and the NC boys will play Central at 8:00pm. That tournament runs through Saturday.

The Casper College men's and women's basketball teams are in Colorado for tounaments. The men will play in Sterling on Friday and Saturday. They match up with North Platte, Nebraska at 5:00pm Friday and the host team Northeastern on Saturday at 3:00pm. Both games on AM 1400 ESPN.

The T-Bird women will be playing in the Air Force Prep Tournament in Colorado Springs starting today. They play the Las Vegas Heat today and will continue with games on Friday and Saturday.
