Muddy Mountain Road will reopen for the season a little earlier than usual. The Bureau of Land Management Casper Field Office says the road will open on Saturday, May 11th, 2018.

The road closes every year for public safety and resource protection reasons. That closure usually starts at the end of November and lasts through the first of June but because of the drier conditions, and the "BLM's commitment to being a good neighbor in the communities we serve," according to a release, the road will open earlier than normal.

The BLM says some areas of the road are still wet and they're urging visitors to use caution when traveling on the mountain to prevent damage. Muddy Mountain Road is the primary access route to the Muddy Mountain Environmental Education Area, which includes two campgrounds and numerous recreation trails.
