Wyoming middle blocker Erin Kirby has been named Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for matches played from Aug. 30-Sept. 1. It marks the first time this season and the second time in her career that she has earned the honor.

Kirby, a 6-0 junior from Evanston, Wyo., led the Cowgirls to a 4-0 record and the UniWyo Wyoming Invite tournament title. She was named the MVP of the tournament after recording 52 kills (3.47 kps) and a team-leading 32 blocks (2.13 bps), while hitting .473 over the week. In the match against Stetson (W, 3-0), recorded a season-high 11 total blocks, one short of her career high, and had 11 kills. She hit .500 against Idaho (W, 3-2) with 15 kills and eight blocks. Kirby finished with a career-high 16 kills against Montana State (W, 3-1), with seven blocks and a .483 hitting percentage, while hitting a season-high .769 (10k-0e-13ta) against Drake (W, 3-0).

The Cowgirls return to action next Friday, Sept. 6, at the James Madison Classic in Harrisonburg, Va. They will face James Madison, CSU Bakersfield and Presbyterian.
