The Kelly Walsh boys, who came into the 4A State Tournament as a #1 seed struggled mightily in their first round game against Cheyenne Central but managed to come away with a 39-34 victory at Casper College on Thursday afternoon.

The Trojans put the game away with some late free throws but shot just 24% from the floor in the 1st half of play.

KW finished at 35% but were 3-15 from 3 point land. Jaxon Hiatt led the Trojans with 11 points and Cam Carter added 10.

Central shot 35% from the field but were outscored by 7 in the final quarter.

Jessen Reckling led the Indians with 11 an d Riley Fraley had 8.

KW improves to 19-3 on the year and will take on Sheridan in the semi-finals Friday night at 7:30 at the Events Center, Cheyenne Central will play Evanston in the consolation round at noon on Friday, also at the EC.
