Head coach Joe Legerski and three Wyoming Cowgirls were honored as part of the 2017 Mountain West All-Conference teams and special awards announced Monday.

Legerski was named the MW Coach of the Year for the second time. He led the Cowgirls to a 21-8 overall record. It was the eighth time in his 14-years as head coach Wyoming has won 20 or more games. The 13-5 mark in the Mountain West gave UW a record for conference victories in a single season. Legerski has accumulated 266 wins as Wyoming’s head coach. He’s the winningest coach in program history. Legerski also has a MW best 133 conference wins.

In a release from UW, Legerski had praise for the three players that received recognition.

“The honors reflect what we talk about at the start of every season -- team success will lead to individual success. Liv had a tremendous season. She was third in scoring and fourth in rebounding in the Mountain West, impressive numbers. Marta provided the spark off the bench that we needed. Taylor had as good a first year as anyone. This team can share in the success of Liv, Marta and Taylor.”

Junior Liv Roberts received First Team All-MW honors and was also named to the league’s All-Defensive team. She led the Cowgirls in nine different statistical categories this season, including points and rebounds. In MW games, she led the squad in ten categories. In conference play, Roberts was among the Top 15 in eight different stats. She averaged 16.5 points and 8.6 rebounds in Mountain West games. Roberts shot almost 51 percent from the field, 44.6 percent from three and 79 percent at the foul line. She played in 25 total games and 14 in the MW before suffering a season-ending injury on Feb. 15.

Sophomore Marta Gomez was named the MW Sixth Player of the Year recipient. She averaged 8.9 points and 2.6 rebounds per game in league play. She led UW in three-point field goals made and attempted and ranked in the Top 15 in conference games. Gomez shot better 40 percent beyond the arc. She scored in double figures nine times in MW action.

Freshman Taylor Rusk was named to the MW All-Freshman team. She played in every MW game and averaged 7.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Rusk led the MW in three-point percentage at 44 percent beyond the arc. She was second in that stat during conference games. Rusk scored in double figures four times during action in the league.

The Cowgirls begin the MW Tournament Tuesday in Las Vegas against Fresno State at 7 p.m.
