The Wyoming Cowboys saw their season come to an end Wednesday night as they lost to top seed New Mexico 59-46 in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament in Las Vegas. Pokes leading scorer and rebounder Leonard Washington was saddled with foul trouble and was limited to just 6 points and 5 rebounds. The Cowboys were led in scoring by Larry Nance Jr. and Derrious Gilmore with 14 points each. The Loboes were led in scoring by Tony Snell with 15 points. The Cowboys finish the season at 19-13.

New Mexico moves on to play San Diego State in the semifinals. The Aztecs downed Boise State 73-61. The other semifinal will have UNLV and Colorado State. UNLV beat Air Force 72-56 and CSU defeated Fresno State 67-61.

The conference women's quarterfinal is today at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas with the Wyoming Cowgirls taking on Colorado State. The Cowgirls are 23-6 and have defeated CSU twice during the regular season. The Rams come in at 11-18. Tip-off tonight is 9:30pm and will be hear on AM 1030 KTWO.

The Denver Broncos are making a big splash in the free agent sweepstakes thus far as they signed receiver Wes Welker to a 2-year bargin basement price of $12-million. Welker has played for New England since 2007 and has averaged 112 receptions per season. But the Pats were only offering him $10-million over 2 years and did not place the franchise tag on him which would of paid him $11-million for 2013. The Broncos also signed defensive back Dominque Rodgers Cromartie to a one year deal. He played for Philadelphia the past 2 seasons.

The Denver Nuggets crushed the New York Knicks 117-94 to win their 10th straight game. Former Nugget Carmelo Anthony returned to Denver for the first time since being traded nearly 2 years ago. Anthony managed just 9 points, hampered with a bad right knee.
