UNDATED (AP) — Chris Davis hit his major league-leading 23rd home run as Baltimore topped Boston 6-3. Nick Markakis (mar-KAY'-kihs) had four hits and scored three runs to help the Orioles take three of four from the Red Sox and close the game to 1 ½ games on the AL East leaders.

Manny Machado extended his hitting streak to a career-high 14 games and drove in a run for the Orioles, who have now won six straight series over the Red Sox, dating to last year.

— Chien-Ming Wang won for the first time in more than a year, scattering seven hits in seven scoreless innings as Toronto completed a four-game sweep of Texas 7-2. Adam Lind hit a three-run blast and Colby Rasmus homered for a third straight game in Toronto's fifth consecutive win. The Rangers have dropped six in a row.

— Bartolo Colon won his seventh straight decision by allowing two runs and eight hits in seven innings to pitch Oakland to a 10-2 win over Seattle. Josh Reddick, Seth Smith and Brandon Moss each homered and drove in two runs as the AL West leaders moved three games ahead of the Rangers.

— The New York Yankees' five-game losing streak is over after Mariano Rivera struck out Albert Pujols (POO'-hohlz) with the bases loaded to preserve a 6-5 win over the Angels. CC Sabathia (suh-BATH'-ee-uh) pitched five-hit ball into the ninth, and Travis Hafner hit a three-run homer during a five-run third.

— Doug Fister held Minnesota hitless until the sixth and Torii Hunter connected for his 300th career home run, leading Detroit over the Twins 5-2. Hunter and Austin Jackson both hit two-run homers for Detroit.

— Wade Davis stopped his five-game winless streak leading Kansas City to a 5-3 win over Tampa Bay. Davis gave up two runs and five hits in six innings for his first win since May 15.

— Jason Castro homered for the second straight game and Matt Dominguez hit a three-run double to lift Houston to a 5-4 win over the White Sox. The Astros have won four in a row.

— Corey Kluber pitched eight shutout innings to help Cleveland spoil Stephen Strasburg's return with a 2-0 win over Washington. Strasburg gave up a run and one hit in five innings in his first start straining a muscle in his back on May 31.

— Julio Tehran scattered seven hits before Atlanta's bullpen tossed three perfect innings of relief in a 3-0 shutout of San Francisco. Freddie Freeman is hitting .320 after going 3-for-3 with an RBI single that put the Braves ahead in the bottom of the first.

— Pedro Alvarez hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the fifth inning and Pittsburgh went on to a 6-3 win over the Dodgers. Alvarez's team-high 15th homer sent the Pirates to their sixth victory in nine games.

— Johnny Cueto (KWAY'-toh) pitched six solid innings in his return from the disabled list to lead Cincinnati to a 5-1 win over Milwaukee. Jay Bruce homered and Donald Lutz drove in two runs.

— Ricky Nolasco (noh-LAS'-koh) retired 11 straight at one stretch and allowed one run and three hits in seven innings to pitch Miami to a 7-2 win over St. Louis. The NL Central-leading Cardinals lost a series for the first time since April 26-28 against Pittsburgh.

— Kyle Blanks ripped a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to give San Diego its season-high sixth straight win, 4-1 against Arizona. The Padres moved above 500. for the first time since closing the 2010 season with a 90-72 record.

— Jhoulys Chacin (zhoo-LEES' shah-SEEN') came without one out of his second career shutout before allowing a pair of RBI hits in Colorado's 5-2 win over Philadelphia. Wilin Rosario and Carlos Gonzalez homered for the Rockies.

— Kirk Nieuwenhuis (NOO'-ehn-hys) hit a three-run homer that capped a four-run rally in the bottom of the ninth inning and gave the Mets a 4-3 win over the Cubs. Marlon Byrd started the rally with a solo shot before Nieuwenhuis send the Mets to just their third victory in 13 games.

UNDATED (AP) — Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Alex Cobb has left the hospital, one day after he was hit in the right ear by a line drive.

The Rays announced during their game against Kansas City that Cobb had been released from Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. The team said he will be placed on the seven-day concussion list.

There was no timetable for when Cobb will rejoin the rotation.

The Yankees Mark Teixeira (teh-SHER'-uh) has no new tears in the tendon sheath around his inflamed right wrist but got a cortisone shot for it.

New York manager Joe Girardi says the first baseman will be re-evaluated next week. The Yankees sent him back to New York for evaluation on his problematic wrist after it forced him out of Saturday's game with the Angels in Anaheim. Girardi says Teixeira will be out for "a couple of days" while the club waits for the inflammation to subside.
