Rockies Off To Best Start Since 1995; Beat Padres 9-1-Daily Sports Update

The Colorado Rockies have won 5 of their first 6 games of the new season, beating San Diego Sunday afternoon 9-1 at Coors Field. Dexter Fowler hit his 4th homer of the year and another former Casper player Wilen Rosario hit a 3 run homer. Jhoulys Chacin another Casper player had a good outing on the mound, working into the 7th inning. At 5-1, the Rockies are off to their best start since 1995. The Rockies are on the road to face the world series champs San Francisco Giants.

The men's NCAA tournament will conclude tonight in Atlanta with the championship game as Louisville will take on Michigan. Louisville advanced with a hard fought 72-68 win over Wichita State. Michigan knocked off Syracuse 61-56 in the other national semifinal. In the women's Final 4 from Sunday night, Louisville beat California 64-57 and UConn took care of Notre Dame 81-65, Louisville and UConn will play for the national championship Tuesday night in New Orleans.

The Wyoming Cavalry Indoor Football team won their first game of the season on Friday night beating Tri-Cities 36-34 at the Casper Events Center. A blocked field goal attempt with 17 seconds to go gave the Cavs the win. The Cavalry (1-4) will host the Chicago Slaughter this Friday night.

Auto Racing on the NASCAR Circuit and Jimmie Johnson won at Martinsville on Sunday. That was Johson's 8th career victory at Martinsville. Richard Petty won there 15 times and Darrell Waltrip won there 11 times.
