Casper College picked up a big Region-IX win Tuesday night defeating Central Wyoming of Riverton in three straight at Erickson Gym. Scores were 25-11, 25-22 and 25-20. Freshman Stawnka Panic had 15 kills for the T-Birds who is by far the teams hardest hitter. With the win, Casper College moves to 11-11 on the season, winning 5 of their last six matches. They will host Northwest College of Powell Thursday night at 7:00pm.

The latest Wyoming high school football polls are out with Natrona, Powell, Lovell, Southeast and Snake River remaining in the top spots. The weekly poll conducted by Wyopreps.com/Coach's and Media members. All five number one teams remain unbeaten along with Gillette (5-0), Lander (4-0), Glenrock (4-0) and Greybull (4-0). Two of those unbeatens will matchup this Friday night with Lovell at Greybull.

The Wyoming Cowboys have this week off after losing to ninth rated Nebraska 38-14 on Saturday at sold-out War Memorial Stadium. The Pokes (3-1) will be at Utah State on Saturday Oct. 8th.

The final two playoff spots in Major League Baseball will be determined, maybe today. In the American League, Tampa Bay and Boston are tied for the wild card. Tampa Bay host the Yankees with Boston at Baltimore. If they are tied after tonight, a one-game playoff will be held tomorrow afternoon in Tampa. The Red Sox had a nine-game lead over the Rays earlier this month. In the National League where Atlanta lost a eight and half game lead over St. Louis earlier in the month will try to get a win over Philadelphia with the best record in baseball tonight. Meanwhile St. Louis will try to seal it with a Atlanta loss and a win over the worst team in baseball, Houston. If St. Louis and Atlanta need a playoff game, it will be played in St. Louis Thursday night. Divisional playoffs begin on Friday.

And the Colorado Rockies were shelled by the San Francisco Giants last night on the west coast 7-0. The Rockies could only muster three hits. The Rockies have announced that the entire coaching staff will be back for the 2012 season, including manager Jim Tracy. The Rockies head into the final game of the season tonight with the Giants at 72-89.
