The chairman of the NCAA selection committee says there might be as many as seven teams in contention for No. 1 seeds.

Of course, only four will end up with the coveted spots in the tournament

Chairman Mike Bobinski said Wednesday the committee will have its work cut out trying to determine who gets the most favorable seeding. The 68-team field will be announced Sunday evening.

The Xavier athletic director says the top seeds were more obvious a year ago. This year, he says, "There will be a number of teams we'll be considering and discussing for that one line of the bracket." Among the biggest factors: quality wins on the road.

Bobinski is leaving Xavier after the tournament to take over as Georgia Tech's athletic director on April 1.
