WHSAA Oks Alternate Schedule For 4A/3A Tournaments

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming High School Activities Association has approved an alternative schedule for the Class 4A/3A state basketball tournaments.

The alternative schedule will be used if Casper College hosts a postseason women's junior college regional tournament on the same weekend as the state high school tournament. Whether Casper will host the junior college tournament won't be known until later this month.

The alternative schedule approved Tuesday by the WHSAA board of directors would start the Class 3A tournament a day earlier on Wednesday, March 7.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/zi9G5A ) that board members voiced concerns about additional lost school time but voted 16-2 in favor of it anyway.

There is still hope that some kind of compromise can be worked out with the junior college tournament.
