The Wyoming Cowgirls coasted to an 87-38 win over South Dakota Tech in Laramie Thursday night at the AA. The Cowgirls led by 17 at halftime and outscored Tech 50-18 in the 2nd half. Chaundra Sewell led the way with 20 points and 10 rebounds. The Cowgirls (11-2) open up the Mountain West Conference schedule on Wednesday when they travel to Boise State.

The Kelly Walsh girls and boys basketball teams played their first games in the East-West Invitational Tournament in Riverton Thursday night. The KW boys came away with a 54-51 win over Sheridan. The Trojans play Thermopolis tonight. The Kelly Walsh girls are still looking for their first win of the season as they lost to Sheridan 47-26. The KW ladies will play Thermopolis at 5:30pm this evening followed by the boys game. The East-West Invitational wraps up tomorrow. The Natrona girls are on the road at Gillette tonight. The Fillies are 8-1 and the Lady Camels are 7-2. NC beat Gillette in the championship of the Energy Classic last week.

In the NBA, the Denver Nuggets with a rare loss at home at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves 101-97 Thursday night. J.J. Berea with 17 points for the Wolves. The Nuggets were riding an 8 game home winning streak.

Fifth ranked Oregon defeated 7th ranked Kansas State 35-17 in the Fiesta Bowl Thursday night. Deanthony Thomas scored 2 touchdowns for the Ducks, and started out the contest with a 94-yard kick off return for a touchdown. Oregon finishes the year at 12-1 and Kansas State at 11-2.

The NFL playoffs begin this weekend with 2 games Saturday and 2 Sunday. The first game Saturday is Cincinnati at Houston followed by Minnesota at Green Bay. Sunday's games have Indianapolis at Baltimore followed by Seattle at Washington. The Denver Broncos with the number one seed in the AFC will play on Saturday Jan. 12th and will host either, Baltimore, Indianapolis or Cincinnati.
