The girls, like the boys, will have their opportunities to impress opponents, college recruiters, and the voters in the coaches/media rankings throughout the season.

The top 3 teams from last season 4A, are the top 3 teams going into this season. Defending champ Cheyenne East will open up play in Colorado, #2 Campbell County will play at home vs. out of state competition, while #3 Natrona will play at home vs. in-state competition to start the season. Joining them in the Oil City will be #4 Laramie and #5 Rock Springs.

3A should be a tough class to win. Douglas is at top, and is hoping to avoid a repeat of last year, in which they were cruising towards an undefeated season, before a few teams figured them out late. The Lady Bearcats will start play at Buffalo. #2 Lyman will host a tournament to start the season, and defending champ and #3 Star Valley will play in Casper vs. 4A competition. Meanwhile, Worland and Rawlins round out the rankings at #4 and #5 respectively.

The top 2 teams in 2A last season are the top 2 teams to start the new season. Big Horn and Wyoming Indian are ranked #1 and #2. The Lady Rams will start the season vs. various opponents in Glenrock, along with #5 Greybull while the Lady Chiefs, along with #4 Pine Bluffs will play in Burns.#3 Sundance will play at the Upton Tournament.

The pre-season 1A rankings are dominated by the west...especially the southwest. Defending champ Encampment starts on top. They are followed by #2 Little Snake River, #3 St. Stephens (the only northwest team), #4 Cokeville and #5 Farson-Eden.
