The girls are starting to make things interesting, and those who vote in the coaches/media rankings might have some thinking to do, after this weekend.

All of the excitement this weekend in 4A will take place in Gillette on Friday night. It's not going to matter which team is #1 and #2, before the game, but we'll know which is which after. It's the first meeting between Thunder Basin and Campbell County inside the Castle of Chaos/Champions. The Lady Camels will have the #1 ranking going into this game, largely because of the way they dismantled #4 Cheyenne East last week. In the West, Kelly Walsh moves up to #3, after taking first place away from #5 Evanston last week.

There's no change in the 3A rankings this week. Douglas and Lyman are still undefeated and they maintain the #1 and #2 spots. #3 Buffalo has a challenge ahead of them, as the Lady Bison visit Douglas on Saturday. #4 Powell has to be careful of unranked Star Valley this weekend. The Lady Braves are not far behind #5 Mountain View.

It took an extra week, but 2A has a new #1. Greybull has moved back into the top spot, but the question is, how vulnerable are they? They lost one of their starters right after the opening tip last week at Shoshoni. It's up to other players to fill in the void and #4 Wyoming Indian is in town on Friday. Lusk is down 1 spot to #2 this week, while Rocky Mountain is still #3. Sundance and Pine Bluffs share the #5 ranking. The Lady Hornets got some attention, when they beat Lusk last week, and we'll see what happens when the 2 play again before the regional tournament.

The 1A rankings are the most interesting of the 4 classes, because all of the teams are from the west, the top 3 teams have all beaten each other, and have to play each other again. Encampment and Little Snake River share the #1 spot. The Lady Tigers beat the Lady Rattlers, but LSR made up for it, by going on the road and beating former #1, now #3 Cokeville. The Panthers and the Panthers play each other this weekend in Lincoln County. Encampment also visits #5 Farson-Eden. Elsewhere, #4 St. Stephens will continue their northwest conference business this weekend.

Disclaimer: The rankings have no official say on post-season positioning, and are only to be used as a measuring stick on the regular season. Please don't read too much into the rankings.
