As the season nears the end, the issue of seeding for the upcoming regional tournaments become more important than the coaches/media rankings.

The top 4 in 4A are unchanged from last week. Laramie remains at #1, Kelly Walsh at #2, Cheyenne East at #3 and Thunder Basin at #4. Green River is at #5 this week. Big games this weekend include the Lady Plainsmen visiting the Lady Bolts, and the Lady Trojans visiting the Lady Wolves. KW can wrap up the west #1 seed for the regional tournament this weekend.

Rawlins and Douglas hold steady at #1 and #2 in the new 3A rankings, while West teams got a good look at each other this past weekend at the conference duals, and the voters took notice. Lyman and Star Valley turned in undefeated weekends vs. the northwest and sit at #3 and #4 respectively. They will face each other Thursday night in a match that could determine the top 2 seeds out of the southwest. Cody has to settle for the #5 ranking, missing SV by 1 vote. The Fillies have take care of Northwest play vs. arch-rival Powell this week.

The sun will shine on Sundance in the 2A rankings, at least until the regional tournament. The Lady Bulldogs pulled off the conference head-to-head vs. #2 and 3-time defending champ Wright to stay on top. All of the fun this weekend is in the southeast, especially on Friday, when #3 Southeast visits #4 Pine Bluffs as part of a volleyball/football double-header. Big Piney continues to be the lone team from the west ranked at #5.

Last weekend's invitational at Farson-Eden had some interesting results and the latest 1A rankings reflect it. #1 Cokeville was the only southwest team that did not play at F-E, but still maintain the top spot. Encampment is up 1 spot to #2, after winning the invite, and beating #3 Little Snake River in the process. The 2 teams will try to resolve that issue on Saturday vs. each other. Lingle-Ft. Laramie is up one spot to #4 and will have a tough task on Saturday when they visit 2A #4 Pine Bluffs. Elsewhere, Burlington and Dubois did well enough at the F-E Invite to get the attention of some voters. The Lady Huskies and Lady Rams share the #5 ranking, but we will see how that stands when the regional tournament comes around.

Disclaimer: The rankings have no official say on post-season positioning, and are only to be used as a measuring stick on the regular season. Please don't read too much into the rankings.
