One woman is dead and a man is hospitalized facing charges after authorities say he fatally shot her over the weekend in northwestern Wyoming.

Donna Marie Klingbeil, 75, died at a Billings, Montana hospital after her husband, 76-year-old Dennis Karl Klingbeil, allegedly shot her late Sunday night.

According to a statement from the Park County Sheriff's Office, Florida resident Mark Klingbeil called the Park County Sheriff's 911 Dispatch Center shortly before 10 p.m. to report a possible homicide and suicide at 3056 North Fork Highway, west of Wapiti.

Mark Klingbeil told a dispatcher that his father, Dennis Klingbeil, had called him and said he had just shot Donna Klingbeil. Dennis Klingbeil also said that he had taken numerous pills with the intention of killing himself.

Deputies were dispatched along with an ambulance from Cody Regional Health. Guardian Air Ambulance was put on standby.

Responding units arrived at the residence and found both victims still alive. Donna Klingbeil was suffering from a gunshot wound, while Dennis Klingbeil showed signs of an apparent overdose.

Donna Klingbeil was flown to St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings, Montana, where she later died. Dennis Klingbeil was taken by ambulance to Cody Regional Health.

Dennis Klingbeil's condition is unknown as of Monday afternoon, according to Lance Mathess of the Park County Sheriff's Office. In the news release, Mathess said Dennis Klingbeil is being guarded by a deputy pending charges.
