PITTSBURGH (AP) — The last 16 teams to go up 2-0 in the NHL's conference finals have advanced to the Stanley Cup finals. That bodes very well for the Boston Bruins, who outscored the Penguins 9-1 in taking the first two games of the Eastern Conference finals in Pittsburgh.

Brad Marchand scored twice while the Bruins were building a 4-1 lead in the first period of a 6-1 rout of the Penguins. Marchand tallied just 28 seconds into the game and notched his second of the night with just nine seconds left in the period. Marchand's final goal came 25 seconds after Brandon Sutter put the Pens on the scoreboard.

The B's scored on three consecutive shots as Nathan Horton, David Krejci (KRAY'-chee) and Marchand lit the lamp. Krejci's goal chased goaltender Tomas Vokoun (voh-KOON'), who allowed three goals on 12 shots. Marc-Andre Fleury was beaten on his first shot attempt, giving Boston a three-goal cushion at intermission.

Horton, Johnny Boychuk and Patrice Bergeron (pah-TREES' BEHR'-zhur-ahn) each had a goal and an assist, while teammate Jaromir Jagr (YAH'-roh-meer YAH'-gur) set up two scores.

Tuukka (TOO'-kah) Rask stopped 26 shots for the Bruins, who host Game 3 on Wednesday.
