Casper Man Arrested for Strangling, Beating Girlfriend

Casper police arrested a man in the early hours of Thursday morning after he allegedly strangled and hit the woman he had been dating.

Andrew Thomas Lovelady, 32, was arrested on unrelated warrants and, after investigation, was booked into jail on recommended charges of strangulation of a household member and domestic battery.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, a police officer responded to an apartment in the 300 Block of North Lincoln at roughly 11:45 p.m. Wednesday. The alleged victim in this case reported that she had been dating Lovelady for roughly two years.

She explained that she suspected Lovelady of being unfaithful and confronted him earlier in the day. Lovelady allegedly grabbed her to keep her from leaving and started hitting her.

He allegedly punched her in the head numerous times. The victim told police that she had bruises all over her body from Lovelady hitting her repeatedly.

She also said that Lovelady would push her up against a wall and pinch her throat, making it difficult to breathe. The victim added that she had lost consciousness on multiple occasions in such a circumstance.

The alleged victim told police that she and Lovelady typically argued and things had been violent for the past year. She also said she didn't want Lovelady to get into trouble because she was afraid he would come back and "kill her."

An officer found Lovelady in the area of Yellowstone and Elk Street, and arrested him on unrelated warrants. After his arrest, Lovelady allegedly told police that he had been in a physical altercation and it was "more heated than normal."

He told police the bump on the victim's head was from when she attacked him and he threw her off of him, sending her face-first into a cabinet.

Police noted numerous bruises on the victim's body. Her hands were swollen, and she explained that she had put them up to protect her face as Lovelady continued hitting her.
