Casper Police Arrest Man For Enhanced Domestic Assault

A Casper man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman in front of a child Monday evening.

Scott Nelson Voyles, 31, is facing recommended charges of enhanced domestic assault and child endangerment.

According to an arrest affidavit, police were called to a residence on Sweetbrier Street at 7:30 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they observed a Dodge minivan parked in a driveway with a woman and child next to it.

When a police officer contacted Voyles, he appeared agitated and stated nothing was wrong and he was going to leave.

Additional officers arrived shortly later and spoke with the woman, who said the incident was merely an argument. However, the woman made comments hinting that something did happen to her but she was reluctant to say what.

Police ran Voyles' criminal history and learned he is currently serving probation for a strangulation of a household member conviction in Gillette. The woman involved in Monday's incident was the victim in the Gillette case that happened in 2015.

A witness told police that she heard yelling from across the street and, when she looked out her window, saw Voyles grab the victim by her neck and push her against a vehicle while yelling at her.

When the witness went to get a better look, she saw the victim sitting in the driver's seat and a child sitting in the back seat. Voyles was standing outside the vehicle and holding the driver's door open so that the victim could not close it.

Police consulted with an on-call assistant district attorney and made the decision to arrest Voyles.

He was scheduled to appear in Natrona County Circuit Court Tuesday afternoon.
