A 19-year-old Cheyenne dad accused of exposing his 9-month-old baby to methamphetamine has waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

Tyreese Reed and his co-defendant, 20-year-old Lisa Bell, were arrested at their Cheyenne home on Feb. 9, after agents serving a search warrant found 13.6 grams of meth in the kitchen and .5 grams of meth in Reed's bedroom dresser.

The two's baby was subsequently placed in the custody of the Department of Family Services.

According to an affidavit, Reed told an agent that "he used meth several times per week, often times in the kitchen."

Reed also stated that the meth "belonged to him" and that he got it from "one of the other individuals located during the warrant service."

While arguing bond Thursday, Reed's attorney, Brandon Booth, said his client "had no knowledge of the meth in the kitchen, just the meth in his dresser."

But Assistant Laramie County District Attorney Ben Sherman opposed any bond modification, adding that "one of the baby's hair follicles tested positive for meth."

Despite the state's objection, Circuit Court Judge Antoinette Williams agreed to release Reed on his own recognizance.

If convicted of child endangering, Reed and Bell could face up to five years in prison.
