
Cowboys At San Diego State Tonight-Daily Sports Update
The Wyoming Cowboys will be on the road tonight at San Diego State for a rare Tuesday night conference game. The Cowboys are 18-7 overall and 4-7 in the Mountain West Conference, with one of those wins over the Aztecs back in January. The Pokes will more in likely will be without their leading scorer in the lineup as Leonard Washington rolled his ankle in the overtime period in Saturday's win over Fresno State at the AA. Washington is currently averaging 14 points and 9 rebounds a game. San Diego State is 18-7 overall and 6-5 in the conference. 8:00pm start tonight from San Diego on AM 1030 KTWO.
Long time NBA owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, Dr. Jerry Buss died on Monday at the age of 80 after a year and a half long battle with cancer. Buss was raised in Kemmerer and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Wyoming in just 2 1/2 years. Buss was a chemist by trade and then moved to real estate, earning enough money to buy the Lakers, the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and the Forum, where they played for $67.5-million. The Lakers franchise is reportedly worth now over $1-billion. Under Buss' ownership, the Lakers made it to the NBA finals 16 times, winning 10 of them with players ranging from Kareem Abdul Jabbar to Magic Johnson to Shaquille O'Neil to Kobe Bryant.
In the NHL from Monday night, the Colorado Avalanche outlasted Nashville 6-5 as the Av's scored 4 goals in the 2nd goal. It's the first time Colorado has beaten Nashville in the last 10 meetings. Colorado is now 6-7-1 on the year, still in last place.
