Wyoming Cowboy quarterback Brett Smith ran for 2, 4th quarter toucdowns as the Pokes downed New Mexico in Laramie on Saturday 38-31. The Cowboys blew an 18 point first half lead as the Lobos rallied to tie the game at 24 early in the 4th quarter. But Smith rallied the troops with a 3 yard Td run to give U-W a 7 point lead and followed that up with a 48 yard TD gallop to increase the lead to 14. Smith ended with 138 yards rushing on 14 carries as the Cowboys improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in Mountain West Conference play. New Mexico drops to 0-2 in league play and 2-4 overall. Wyoming will host Colorado State on Saturday in the annual Border War.
