The University of Wyoming Athletics Department along with Northern Illinois University and Clemson University announced a change in dates to their future football schedules on Tuesday.  Wyoming and Appalachian State also announced a new home-and-home series between the two schools that will begin in 2015.

Wyoming and Northern Illinois have moved their game in DeKalb, Ill., previously scheduled for Sept. 26, 2015 to Sept. 11, 2021. The Cowboys and Huskies game in Laramie, Wyo., remains as originally scheduled on Sept. 3, 2016.

The Wyoming Cowboys will still travel to Clemson in 2021, but the game will be played one week later than originally scheduled.  The Cowboys and Tigers will now play on Sept. 25, 2021.

The changes in dates were made in cooperation with all the schools to accommodate changes requested by ESPN.

The newest series announced by Wyoming will be versus Appalachian State, a team that is in transition from the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) to the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).  Appalachian State won three consecutive FCS National Championships from 2005-07.  They joined the Sun Belt Conference in 2014 and are eligible to play for the Sun Belt title this season.  The Mountaineers will be eligible to play in a bowl game starting in 2015.

The series between Wyoming and Appalachian State will begin in Boone, N.C., home to the Mountaineers, on Oct. 3, 2015.  The Cowboys will host the Mountaineers on Sept. 4, 2021.

Other upcoming series for the Cowboys that were previously announced include: a trip to Washington State in 2015, with the Cougars returning to face UW in Laramie in 2018.

The Cowboys will travel to Nebraska in 2016 to complete a three-game series versus the Huskers.

In 2017, Wyoming will host the Oregon Ducks on Sept. 16 in the first ever visit by Oregon to War Memorial Stadium.  That same season, UW will play the Iowa Hawkeyes in Iowa City, Iowa.  That is a single-game contract between the Cowboys and Hawkeyes.

In 2018 in addition to Washington State visiting Laramie, Wyoming will travel to Missouri for a Sept. 8, 2018, game in Columbia.  The Missouri Tigers are scheduled to travel to Laramie, Wyo., for an Aug. 31, 2019, meeting.

Wyoming is scheduled to travel to Lubbock, Texas, in 2020 to take on the Red Raiders.  Texas Tech will return to Laramie in 2022.
