The Casper Cutthroats collegiate team goes to 3-0 early this season as they pounded Cheyenne 17-7 Sunday afternoon at Mike Lansing Field. Jeremy Wolf and Preston King each had 2 hits and needless to say its been so far so good at the plate for the Cutthroats. 13 runs in the first game, 8 in the second and 17 Sunday. The Cutthroats go for the sweep tonight against Cheyenne with first pitch at 6:35pm.

The annual Casper Marathon with over 500 participating. The men's winner was Gary Krugger of Flagstaff, Arizona in 2:53:09. This is the 2nd consecutive win for Krugger. Casper's Becky Sondag was the women's winner.

The Colorado Rockies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-2 Sunday afternoon at Coors Field. Dexter Fowler hit 2 home runs with Todd Helton and Michael Cuddyer also homering in the game. The Rockies ended up taking 2 of 3 from the Dodgers. Colorado opens up a series at Cincinnati tonight.

The finalists for the Milward Simpson Award were announced late last week. The award is given to the state's outstanding male and female high school athlete. The 5 boys finalists are Cody Savage and Dino Collins from Lovell. Ty Etchemendy of Douglas, Ben Mancuso of Burlington and Dani Fischer of Gillette. The 5 girls that are finalists are Kassidy Scott of Douglas, Lexi Erickson of Star Valley, Shanda Post from Lander, Madison Legerski of Laramie and Hailey Ligocki of Sheridan. The winners will be announced in Casper on June 22nd.

In the Stanley Cup playoffs in hockey, Chicago defeated Los Angeles 4-2 to take a 2 games to none lead in the Western Conference finals. Tonight will be game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals as Boston leads Pittsburgh 1 game to none.
