The Casper Cutthroats improved to 6-0 on the season with a 5-4 win over Northern Colorado Thursday night in Johnstown. Jeremy Wolf went 2 for 5 with an RBI and Preston King went 2 for 4 with an RBI. The Cutthroats will be at home tonight to meet Northern Colorado at 6:35pm at Mike Lansing Field.

The Colorado Rockies lost to the San Diego Padres Thursday night 6-5 in 12-innings, as Yasmani Grandal drove in the go ahead run on a fielder's choice in the 12th. Although replays indicated that he was clearly out at first. Wilin Rosario had a 2 run homer in the game. Game 2 of their weekend series is tonight at Coors Field.

The Denver Nuggets have fired head coach George Karl after 8 seasons on the job. The Nuggets made the playoffs 5 of the last 6 years but only made it past the first round of those years, back in 2009. Karl was just named NBA Coach of the Year after the Nuggets won a franchise record 57 games. But Karl was also looking for a 3 year contract extension that the Nuggets balked at, plus Karl may in fact be interested in the Los Angeles Clippers vacancy. The Nuggets appear to be zoning in on Memphis head coach Lionel Hollins and Indiana assistant Brian Shaw.

Game 1 of the NBA Finals went to San Antonio who beat Miami Thursday night on the road 92-88. Tony Parker with 21 points including a 16 footer with 5 seconds to go that just barely beat the shot clock. Lebron James led Miami with 18 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists. Game 2 is slated in Miami on Sunday night.

The 40th Annual Shrine Bowl Football game will Saturday night. This pits the best graduated seniors from around Wyoming in the North/South matchup. Kickoff is slated for 7:00pm at Cheney Alumni Field at Natrona County High School.

In the Stanley Cup playoffs in hockey, Chicago beat Los Angeles on the road 3-2 on Thursday night in the Western Conference finals. Chicago leads that series with 3 games to 1. In the Eastern Conference finals, Boston can wrap up their series with Pittsburgh tonight in Boston. The Bruins lead that series 3 games to none.
