
Cutthroats Swept By Fort Collins-Daily Sports Update
The Casper Cutthroats were swept by Fort Collins, losing Wednesday afternoon 5-4 at Mike Lansing Field. The Cutthroats were 9-0 at home before this series started.
Fort Collins scored 4 of their runs in the first inning thanks to a couple of defensive miscues by Casper. The Cutthroats drop to 10-10 on the season. They have today and Friday off before they play at Laramie on Saturday.
The Casper Oilers will host the George Tani American Legion Baseball Tournament today through Saturday. The Oilers are 23-22 on the year, and are coming of a 12-11 loss to Laramie on Tuesday. They'll take on the Colorado Baseball Academy at 5pm this afternoon.
The Colorado Rockies lost to the Washington Nationals Wednesday 11-5. Ryan Zimmerman, Tyler Moore and Ian Desmond all homered in the game for the Nats. The Rockies had 14 hits but lost for the 16th time in the last 20 games. They wrap up their series this afternoon at Coors Field.
The U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials continues in Eugene, Oregon. Casper native Baillie Gibson will be competing in the preliminary round of the shot put today. Gibson already has competed in the discus, where she finished 12th, but did not make the Olympic team. Also former Cheyenne Central athlete Brandan Ames who ran for USC, will be in the prelims of the 110 meter hurdles.
