The Glenrock Police Department has issued a press release about the standoff incident on Thursday that sent local schools into a lock out situation.

They say police got a report of a man brandishing a weapon at 146 Ft. Laramie Street, and when officers arrived they formed a perimeter around the house and tried to make contact with the man.

Residents in the area were notified, and some schools went into lockout mode.

They called the Natrona County Sheriff’s SWAT team, who took over the negotiations. At that point, the man fired at officers.

A short time later, the house was obviously on fire, and a short time later, another shot was heard inside.

When officers entered the house, they found the man dead.

The case has been turned over to the Department of Criminal Investigation.
