A former health services administrator at the Casper Re-Entry Center was sentenced to probation Wednesday in district court after she admitted to having a sexual relationship with an inmate.

District Judge Daniel Forgey sentenced Andrea Nicole Morgan to a term of three years on supervised probation with an underlying two- to four-year suspended prison sentence.

As part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, Morgan pleaded guilty in January to one count of third-degree sexual assault. A second-degree sexual assault charge was dropped per that plea deal.

"Mere words are not enough to express how much I've changed in the last two years as a result of this situation," Morgan told the court.

Charging documents alleged that Morgan, while she was working at the Casper Re-Entry Center, had sexual contact with an inmate at the facility sometime before Christmas 2015.

Morgan resigned as health services administrator effective April 1, 2016, having submitted her resignation in early March 2016.

When the Wyoming Department of Corrections began investigating in April 2016, Morgan reportedly said the inmate was her boyfriend, but the relationship had not begun until after she left CRC.

Defense attorney Thomas Smith told Forgey that Morgan has no prior criminal history.

Assistant District Attorney Jared Holbrook said Morgan does not pose a danger to the community.
