‘Cheat Code': Wyoming’s Evan Svoboda Heard Josh Allen’s Praises
LARAMIE -- Evan Svoboda doesn't have the time -- or admittedly, the right equipment -- to try out the new EA Sports College Football 25.
Imagine not playing a video game you are actually in?
"I know," Wyoming's quarterback said with a grin and slight head shake. "I just don't have the next-gen console or the updated version."

The Cowboys current signal caller may not be taking part in the action, but a former one certainly is. Josh Allen told local reporters in Western New York just last week his former school has a QB who can "throw the ball over the mountains."
The Buffalo Bills QB may have also been referring to Svoboda when he said Wyoming has a "cheat code" in the game.
"It's cool that he is playing the game and saying that about me," he said. "I mean, if I was playing with him, Id' say the same exact thing."
Svoboda has made it no secret a main reason he decided to come to Laramie is because of the legacy Allen created here. That No. 17 plastered across his chest is no accident, either. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound junior said he has yet to speak with Allen. He added, "I'm not even sure if he knows who I am, quite honestly."
It appears he does.
If not, Allen will soon get his chance -- like everyone else -- to watch Svoboda, a Mesa, Arizona product, climb under center and take the reins of a new-look offense when Wyoming opens the 2024 campaign Aug. 31 at Arizona State.
"It's nice to kind of lay low and then just show everybody a big surprise, you know, out of nowhere," he said. "So, that's what I'm looking forward to."
Svoboda does have one career start under his belt.
Filling in for an injured Andrew Peasley, the Snow College transfer completed 17-of-28 passes for 136 yards in front of a capacity crowd in Austin, Texas. The Cowboys took the No. 4 team in the nation into the fourth quarter knotted up at 10-10. Svoboda did appear in nine games last fall, but attempted just 10 additional passes after his outing against the Longhorns.

Though he has been in the fire -- including leading Wyoming on an 11-play, 61-yard game-winning drive on the team's final possession of the Arizona Bowl -- Svoboda has admittedly daydreamed about what it will be like to suit up in Tempe just seven miles from his hometown.
"Almost every single minute of the day," he said of lining up across from the Sun Devils. "I think about how I'll perform, what I'm going to do, what I'm going to do throughout the day. I'm kind of manifesting it a little bit, just kind of seeing myself and what I'm going to do. I think that's huge.
"I think if you could see yourself doing it, then it's going to happen."
