Are Salad Bars A Thing Of The Past In Casper?
Eating healthy is one of the hardest things to stick with, when your choices of food out are limited.
Before 2020, salad bars and all you can eat buffets were a more common option in many places. Actually, many places that used to offer just a salad bar, have eliminated that option.
The first salad bar was said to come onto the food scene in the early 1950's and have been part of the all-you-can-eat buffets for years. Even all-you-can-eat joints are limited these days, too.
Sure, there are places you can still get a side salad or get a salad for your meal, but it's not really the same as having a whole bar that's dedicated to allowing you the ability to load up on lettuce, tomato, cucumber, bacon bits, croutons, cottage cheese, cheese and all the dressing you want.
I remember going to places like Sizzler, Ponderosa and Golden Corral as a kid and it seemed everyone always started their meal with a trip to the salad bar, just to make themselves feel good once they destroyed 3 plates of mashed potatoes, meatloaf, fried okra, chocolate cake and ice cream from the buffet.
Around Casper there may have been quite a few salad bars at one time, but there really aren't very many left. Even though there aren't that many, there are still a couple all-you-can-eat buffet locations still open.
Ironically, the couple remaining buffets in town are a couple of the places mentioned by our loyal Facebook followers as having the best salad bar in town.
