Size Matters When Hunting Wyoming’s Diverse Big Game Populations
It's hunting season, and if you're not a hunter, you may not know how big some of the big game species that Wyoming hunters go after really are. Just in the deer family alone, the sizes range from Shaquille O'Neil to Kevin Hart to Webster.

Yeah, I know that's a weird way to look at it, but it's true, and kind of an understatement, because that's not accounting for their antlers, but follow along and it will make a little more sense.
When you're measuring these animals, you're measuring from the ground to the top of the shoulder, or base of the neck. Remember, we're not counting the antlers which can tack on another couple of feet.
A full grown Bull Moose is about 7 feet at the shoulder and weighs up to 1,600 lbs.
The Bull Elk is about 5 feet at the shoulder, and up to 1,100 pounds.
A Mule Deer Buck is about 3.5 feet high and can weight up to 330 pounds
The Whitetail Buck is nearly the same size as the Muley height-wise, but weight is closer to 300 (they may be even bigger in some parts of the country)

Pronghorn buck stands about 3.5 feet and can weigh up to 145 pounds
It's crazy to see the difference. I'm sure there are some folks that had no idea of the sizes of these creatures. I even left some of the bigger animals off, like bears and bison.
