Wyoming isn't just a state full of outdoor adventures; it's also home to artists. We all doodled in our notebooks in school, but some kids are destined to create incredible works of art, whether in painting, drawing, or another creative medium. If you have a child who shows signs of being an artist, you can help guide them in the right direction and encourage them to enter the Wyoming Game and Fish Department's Student Conservation Stamp Art Competition.

The competition is open to all K-12 students and is designed to get them fired up to learn about Wyoming's wildlife. If you're a public school art teacher, and your student enters and wins, you also win. Both the student and teacher will win a cash prize.

WGFD is also offering a livestream workshop to help you get started and offer tips and suggestions for your project.

The species of this year's competition is the Arctic Grayling, which is found across Wyoming. All artwork must be original and accurately depict a grayling in a Wyoming habitat. It will be judged on the accuracy of the fish, artistic composition, and overall artistry.

The deadline is April 9 at 5 p.m., so there is plenty of time for your young artist to get entered. To enter, the original artwork must be submitted on paper in a horizontal, landscape format and needs to be in ink, pencil, or paint. The entry can be multicolored or black-and-white.

To enter, print the artist data sheet HERE and use the other side of the paper for the artwork. Then you can make a digital copy by photographing or scanning both sides and filling out the Online Submission Form. Or it can be sent via USPS to the Wyoming Game and Fish Headquarters in Cheyenne.
