Two tennis players, a diver, and a football player share the honor of WyoPreps Athletes of the Week. Following a surge of nominations, Cheyenne Central junior Cailyn Smedley, Kemmerer senior Hanna Walker, Meeteetse senior Jacob Moody, and Cheyenne East senior Colin Crecelius earned the distinction after their successes last week. Smedley maintained a perfect record on the tennis court. Walker set a record and is the leader among 3A divers. Moody had a big game for the Longhorns in a victory last Friday night, and Crecelius remained undefeated this season with a crisp week on the tennis court. WyoPreps reviewed performances from the competition week of September 8-13 and chose these four student-athletes. Previous weeks are not part of the decision.

Smedley went 4-0 at the No. 2 singles position for the undefeated Cheyenne Central Indians. She beat conference foes from Torrington, Rawlins, Green River, and Rock Springs and did not lose a set. That means she won all four of her matches 6-0 and 6-0. Smedley remained perfect for this season and her prep tennis career.

WyoPreps visited with Cailyn about how she played in her four victories, where she’s been focusing her efforts, preparing for the postseason, and more.
