The 10th largest state, landmass wise, is the smallest populated state.
Wyoming has just 587,618 according to the latest count, which occurred in 2024.

Niobrara County is the least populated county in Wyoming with just 2,467, making it the least populous county in Wyoming. Its county seat is Lusk, which has just 1,445 people.
In case you are curious, Loving County, Texas is the least populated county in the United States with just 64 people living there.
Many US cities have populations larger than Wyoming's.
By that we are talking about the population within the city limits.
They include New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Philadelphia, San Antonio, San Diego, Dallas, and San Jose.
NYC has 8.258 million within its city limits.
In New York City, you can step outside and swing your arm and hit somebody.
In Wyoming's most populated city, which is Cheyenne, you can step outside and throw rocks or swing a baseball bat and not worry about hitting anyone.
In Wyoming, people do not often need to say "Excuse me" because there is nobody to bump into.
