Wyoming’s Famous Chugwater Chili Cookoff Is This Weekend

About 45 miles north of Cheyenne, it will be well worth the drive to check out one of the spiciest events of the year (pun intended).

The Chugwater Chili Cook-Off is on Saturday, June 15th.

Each year thousands flock to this festival from not only Wyoming, but surrounding states as well.

Visitors and chili connoisseurs alike can taste the chili, compete against others to see if their chili has what it takes to rank with the best, and enjoy some live music.

The entire family is invited out this year as there will be activities for all ages.

Dare to enter the hot chili pepper eating contest.

Kids can DIVE into the pie eating contest.

The event is recognized by the Chili Appreciation Society and whether you want to celebrate it, taste it, or cook in it, you're welcome. There's also a People's Choice Award at stake.

• Chili and Salsa tasting! Don’t miss your chance to cast your vote for the People’s Choice award for the best-tasting chili and salsa in the state!
• Prizes to our Red Chili, Green Chili, and Salsa cooks! Anyone and everyone is encouraged to enter!

• Complimentary wagon rides from the parking areas!
• Car Show complete with trophies and a winner’s parade!

Festivities will kick off at approximately 9 a.m. at Staats Park in Chugwater.

The rodeo will end roughly around 8 p.m. and visitors are encouraged to stick around in town for some dancing at the Stampede Saloon.

HISTORY OF THE COOKOFF!

The cook-off began in 1986 as a way to celebrate the best chili and the best town, together. Now, the cook-off has grown to the largest single-day event in the state.

As a registered non-profit organization, all funds raised are invested back into the Chugwater community to help the town continue to flourish.

They proudly support our local Economic Development Center and Historical Group, as well as our local schools, volunteer Fire Department, and Community Center.

In addition, a portion of the funds raised go toward a scholarship fund.
