Cheyenne firefighters put out a commercial fire early Monday morning that killed a cat and caused an estimated $250,000 in damage.

According to Cheyenne Fire Rescue, six units were called to Superior Glass and Mirror at 821 E. Lincolnway around 2:15 a.m., after police found smoke and flames coming from the building.

"CFR discovered a fire in the back part of the building and forced access to the back shop," the department said in a release.

"CFR extinguished a vehicle that was on fire parked inside the building as well as other building contents to which the fire had spread," the department added.

CFR says no people were inside the building when the fire occurred, but two cats were found inside.

One was resuscitated and given to the owner for further veterinarian care, but, unfortunately, the other died from smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
