It's getting to be that time of year again.

The 2023 holiday season is upon us. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Or is it like most things in life...a mixed bag?

There is a lot to like about the holidays, of course. Most of us have at least some happy memories associated with this time of year.

When you are a kid, Christmas Day in particular is a very big deal.

There is an idealism that comes with Christmas that can be uplifting too.  A lot of folks would say that Christmas isn't really about ''getting lots of stuff'' so much as the deeper meaning behind it.

And who doesn't love Thanksgiving? Food, family, and football. What more could you want?

New Year's Day offers a fresh start, not to mention more food and plenty of adult beverages.

If you are a football fan, it's the season of the college bowl games and the NFL playoffs are starting to come into focus.

But like anything else, some negatives come with this time of year. Financial pressures put a lot of people in debt and the stress that comes with finding the right gift for everybody can be a lot to deal with.

And not everybody has a family. Not everyone who does loves being around them all of the time.

And let's face it, sometimes the holidays aren't all they are cracked up to be. Norman Rockwell's paintings and Christmas movies make it seem like the holidays should be a wonderful time full of unbridled joy and happiness.

What if they aren't? Real life often disappoints, however, especially when expectations are so high.

So how do you feel about the holidays? Take our poll and give us your opinion!
