The Kelly Walsh boys basketball team opened up 4A East Conference play Friday and Saturday. For the Trojans it wasn't a good start as they lost at top rated Gillette Friday night 53-21.

The Trojans managed only three points in the first half against the Camels, and couldn't generate much scoring in the second half. Tim NgaNga led Kelly Walsh in scoring with eight points. Westin Hinkel scored 11 to lead the Camels. On Saturday afternoon, it was a better effort for KW depite losing to Sheridan 63-49. The Broncs jumped out to a 13-9 lead after one quarter. The Trojans was able to close it to 18-16 with just under two and half minutes left in the first half, but the Broncs scored the last six points to lead 24-16 at half. And then scored the first 11 points in the third quarter and would open up a 37-17 lead. The Trojans would cut it to 57-46 in the fourth before Sheridan would outscore Kelly Walsh 6-3 down the stretch. Kelly Walsh was led in scoring by Zane VanOrden with 13 points off the bench. Tim NgaNga with 12 and Shawn Burridge with 10. The Broncs were paced by Riley Ryan with 17 points and Raith Durham with 12. Kelly Walsh (o-15) overall and (0-2) in 4A East Conference will be at Cheyenne Central Friday night and home to Cheyenne East Saturday afternoon.
