Kelly Walsh High School has named Jon Vance its new head football coach. The announcement came at a press conference at the high school this afternoon.

Vance takes over the Trojan program from Jim Horne who resigned after 7 seasons. Vance has been an assistant under Horne the last three years. Before that Vance was an assistant coach at Black Hills State University. Vance is a Watford City North Dakota native and played under one of the most successful coaches in that states history, Fred Fridley. The Trojans finished 3-7 this past season, losing to Sheridan in the 4A quarterfinals 10-3. The Trojans open up the season on August 26th when they host Cheyenne East. That will also be the opening game of the week on AM 1400 ESPN.
