New Faces at Cornerback for the Wyoming Cowboys [VIDEO]
With three veteran cornerbacks gone, the position remains in the spotlight for the Wyoming Cowboys during spring football practice.
Wyoming lost Rico Gafford and Robert Priester to graduation, and with the move of junior Tyler Hall to the nickel position, the Cowboys will have some fresh faces at corner this fall.
The good news for the Pokes is the return of veteran Antonio Hull. The redshirt junior is back from an injury that kept him out of all but one game last season. He’s the leader of a group that gets a lot younger after him.
In the mix right now are a pair of redshirt freshmen in C.J. Coldon (6-1, 175) from Belleville, IL and Keyon Blankenbaker (5-10, 173) from Oak Park, IL. While those two are getting plenty of reps, cornerbacks coach John Richardson told KOWB that sophomore Sidney Washington Jr. has worked his way into the mix.
While there’s a key competition at quarterback, the corner position is still one to watch throughout spring drills and even into fall camp.
The Cowboys are into week three of spring practice. Their annual Spring Game will cap the 15 sessions on April 21 at 2 p.m. in War Memorial Stadium.
