We live in a great part of the world to see the Perseid meteor shower. It is set to light up the Casper skies in mid-August.

Space.com shared details of this year's Perseid meteor shower and it appears the best nights to see them will be the nights of August 12 and 13.

We tend to have a great view of the Perseids because of our location in the northern hemisphere. But, the Space.com article warns that moonlight is likely to make some of the less spectacular meteors harder to see this year. Darn.

The Perseid meteor shower is the result of us passing through the tail of Comet Swift-Tuttle as Wikipedia points out.

The good news is this meteor shower is the one time each year that you can consistently expect to see fireballs. So, save the dates of August 12 and 13 for some Casper night sky viewing.
