UNDATED (AP) — The New York Yankees could have Alex Rodriguez in their lineup against the Chicago White Sox on Monday night.

A person familiar with deliberations tells The Associated Press that Major League Baseball has informed the New York Yankees that Rodriguez will be suspended Monday but can play while he appeals the penalty. The person said the Yankees were not told the exact length of the suspension, but were left under the impression it will be through the 2014 season.

The person also said Rodriguez could get a shorter penalty for violating baseball's drug agreement if he gives up the right to file a grievance and force the case before an arbitrator.

Rodriguez said on Saturday that he planned to rejoin his teammates in time for Monday's series opener at Chicago. Manager Joe Girardi said he will pencil A-Rod into the lineup.

A second source says MLB planned an announcement for noon EDT Monday.

Thirteen other players faced discipline following baseball's probe of the Biogenesis of America anti-aging clinic. All-Stars Nelson Cruz of Texas and Jhonny Peralta of Detroit are among those facing the stiffest penalties.

Toronto outfielder Melky Cabrera, Oakland pitcher Bartolo Colon and San Diego catcher Yasmani Grandal served suspensions after positive tests last year. They've been tied to this performance-enhancing drug case, but can't be disciplined again for the same offense.

Ramirez exited the game in the seventh inning after he tumbled into the stands catching a fly ball.

The Diamondbacks were 4-0 losers in Boston as Felix Doubrant (doo-BRAHNT') held them to five singles without walking a batter. Jacoby Ellsbury had two RBIs in the Red Sox's seventh victory in nine games.

Tampa Bay beat San Francisco 4-3 to stay one game behind the AL East-leading Bosox. Wil Myers hit a two-run homer for the Rays, who went ahead to stay on Sam Fuld's RBI single in the sixth.

Cleveland picked up its 15th shutout of the season with a 2-0 win over the Marlins in Miami. The victory gave the Indians the series two games to one and sends Cleveland home for a key four-game series against Detroit that starts Monday night. Everth Cabrera had two hits and two RBIs in his final game before he's expected to be punished for his role in baseball's latest drug scandal.

Jeff Bianchi lofted a single that dropped just behind Washington's drawn-in infield, breaking a tie and capping a five-run sixth inning in Milwaukee's' 8-5 win over the Nationals. Bianchi had three RBIs in helping the Brewers end a three-game skid.

Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion (ehn-kahr-nah-see-OHN') drove in the tying and go-ahead runs with two-out singles in the ninth to push Toronto past the Los Angeles Angels 6-5. The Angels were poised for a four-game sweep after Mark Trumbo's three-run homer helped them build a 5-2 lead.
